Your astonishing trip to the landlocked country in Southeast Asia begins in Vientiane, the delightful capital with architectural relics of the French colonial era and tree-lined boulevards. A northbound drive takes you to Vang Vieng to enjoy the serene landscape of limestone karst outcrop and visit the Plain of Jars. A leisurely cruise along the mighty Mekong with some short stops of ethnic minority villages and discover their daily life. End of the trip with a bike and chill out in the cool water of Kuang Si Fall and call on the newly opened butterfly park.
Itinerary Day by Day


Upon arrival at the airport, welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel for check in.  Located on the bank of the Mekong River, Vientiane, the serene capital offers tourists full of things to see, from crumbling French mansions to tree-lined boulevards, from ancient stupas to national monuments.

The rest of the day is your own free time at leisure.

In the morning, we will first visit Wat Si Muang, a Buddhist temple built in 16th century which is considered the home of the guardian spirit of Vientiane. Then drive 25km southeast Vientiane to visit the Buddha Park, an enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the Mekong Riverside meadow, near the Friendship Bridge. There are approximately 200 religious images dating back over 500 years, which were created by a mysterious monk spreading his philosophy on life and revealing his ideas about the universe.

In the afternoon start a half day city tour by visiting the major temples including Wat Si Saket, the oldest temple in Vientiane featuring a cloister wall with more than 2000 ceramic and silver Buddha images, the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Continue to the golden Pha That Luang, the most important national monument in Laos. Stop at Patuxai known as Victory Gate of Gate of Triumph, a war monument dedicated to people fought in the struggle for independence from the French in the center then take some pictures before returning to the city for overnight.

In the morning, leave the capital city for the northbound drive about 150 km to Vang Vieng. Nested on the bank of the Nam Song River, the small town boasts the fairy tale landscape of bizarre limestone outcrops remains unspoiled despite recent development of tourism services.  

Along the way, you will have chance to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the peaceful countryside towards the mountainous regions. Stop over at several points en route for a short visit of the colorful Thalat market where various hill tribes exchange goods and the ancient Vang Xang Buddha images and sculptures that date back to the 11th century and carved into the side of a sandstone escarpment. On arrival at Vang Vieng, check in hotel and free at your own leisure.

Today, we start exploring the town by visiting the famous cave of Tham Jang which was used as a bunker in the early 19th century in defense against the Chinese invaders. Then we cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai, a very pleasant village where we can explore the different local lifestyles. After lunch, we continue our trip up north to Xieng Khuang province, the home of Plain of Jars which is considered the most mysterious and misunderstood prehistoric site in Laos.

Early morning, we visit the Central Market of Phonsavanh to watch the different hill tribe people exchange merchandises. Then drive over the plains to visit the Plain of Jars site 1 which is located just 3km from the town. Afterwards, travel by car past splendid natural scenes of mountains, forests towards Luang Prabang.  En route, we stop off to see the 200 year old Buddha images at Thampra and some Hmong and hilltribe minority villages. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Get up at the crack of dawn to participate in one of the most sacred Lao tradition, the Alms Giving Ceremony. See silent lines of Buddhist monks in orange robes walking down the streets to collect alms from faithful residents.

Today, you will first visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground which represents classical Laotian architecture.  We then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims.  Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where pepple make the local rice wine. 

In the afternoon, start half-day city tour to visit Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts before ascending the 329 steps to the top of Phousi Hill for a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. The tour ends after a stroll around the famous night market where you can find a lovely collection of handmade textiles made by local and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Today, we will have full day exploring the most beautiful waterfall of Luang Prabang, Kuang Si Waterfall by bike. From the hotel you will visit the morning Phosi Market where you can find many local products such local tea, saltpeter, chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Then cycle to some local villages of Lao ethnic minority including Ban Quay and Ban Thapene which are renowned for traditional handicrafts before reaching the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can splash around in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest paths. On the way back, visit the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park, one of the must-visit spots newly opened on January 2014. 

Arriving in Luang Prabang, we cycle to Wat Siphouthabath to admire the stunning sunset.

Morning, after you have breakfast at hotel our guide and driver will transfer you to Elephant Village. On arrival, you will be welcome and greeted by the Camp Manager who will give you a short briefing. You’ll enjoy the impressive experience of approx. 1 hour elephant ride on the Howdah (Elephant seat), you also take a boat trip return to the Tad Sae Waterfall and spend a bit time in the clear water. Your lunch will be prepared at the Elephant Village Restaurant (Buffet lunch served with Coffee or Tea and drinking water).  After lunch, you find the way back to hotel at 1 or 2 PM.
