Itinerary Day by Day

Welcome to Vietnam! Please be sure that your visa has been pre-arranged, or that your visa-on-arrival letter is in your carry on luggage. These documents will be presented to customs at your first point of entry into the country. Meet your driver for an airport transfer with a private vehicle and English speaking guide.

You will be picked up at your hotel by private car with an English speaking guide and taken to visit the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh and his former residence, Ba Dinh historical square, and the Temple of Literature. For lunch, enjoy a lovely meal at a local restaurant. After lunch, continue your city tour to your choice of one of Hanoi's many museums, including History, Womens, War, Ethnology, then head to Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple and experience a 1 hour cyclo tour. Finish your day off at the Thang Long Opera Theatre for a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show.

Transfer this morning from Hanoi to Halong Bay (3.5 hour drive). Your heavenly journey across Halong Bay starts around noon on Tuan Chau Island at the doorstep of Vietnam's most fascinating wonder. As the vessel sets sails, you will be greeted by Cruise Manager who will aim throughout your stay at providing you with the highest standards of service for a pure pleasure and utmost comfort onboard the ship’s luxury facilities in stunning surroundings.

Discover some of the treasures disseminated across the Bay of the Descending Dragon during the afternoon like fascinating caves, pristine beaches, picturesque floating villages, fantastic rock formations rising up out of the emerald water.

While onboard, at your leisure you can take advantage of the Spa, Beauty and the Massage services provided. You will also have the opportunity to attend the chef's cooking demonstration and try your skills in the art of traditional Vietnamese cooking. In the morning, early risers can attend a Tai Chi demonstration on the sundeck at the break of dawn. Start the day enjoying some Paradise delights with a colourful buffet breakfast. Continue exploring Halong Bay sailing across its 2,000 islets and visiting some of its major highlights.

The Cruise will come to an end on Tuan Chau Island between 10.30am and 11.00am. From here you will drive back to Hanoi.

Meet your driver for an airport transfer to Hanoi airport. Fly from Hanoi to Da Nang in Central Vietnam. Transfer from Danang to Hoi An with a private vehicle. Check in your hotel in Hoi An.

Drive 40 km Southwest of Hoi An in private vehicle with English speaking guide. Visit the capital and religious center of the former Champa Kingdom, My Son, a designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. In a lush green valley, are dozens of red brick towers and sanctuaries dating from between the 7th and 13th centuries. Drive back to Hoi An for lunch. In the afternoon take a walking tour of Hoi An Old quarter, discovering the historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Visit Hoi An's colourful local market, Tan Ky old house, Fukien Assembly Hall, and the 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge. Travelers can also see local residents raise silkworms and produce silk for Hoi An's burgeoning textile industry.

We start the day (8.15am) with a drink at Hai Scout Café  – our meeting point.

Visit Hoi An’s colourful market, and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.

We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is handy.

On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s, before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration).

After the lesson, we sit down and eat exactly what we have cooked.

Check out the hotel and private transfer to Da Nang Railway station. Take the Da Nang – Hue train (code SE20: 15:00 – 16:35) crossing Hai Van mountain pass with splendid landscape enroute: 1 side is Pacific ocean, 1 side is Truong Son mountain. Soft-seat is arranged for this train journey.

Upon arrival at Hue Railway station, you meet our tour guide in Hue and private transfer to your hotel in Hue for relaxation. Overnight in Hue.

Morning take a halfday city tour in Hue. You visit the Forbidden City and the Imperial Citadel, the magnificent tomb of Vietnam’s last monarch Khai Dinh and the tomb of the poet-king Tu Duc. Enjoy the romantic boating along the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the oldest ancient architectural structures for religious worship in Hue.

Check out at 12:00. Take your afternoon flight to Saigon. Private airport transfers are included. Check in your hotel. Overnight in Saigon.

Pick up at your hotel and travel to Cai Be, around two hours driving. We leave behind the noisy and chaotic world of motorbikes and skyscrapers in Ho Chi Minh(Saigon) and head to a land where the water is immense, the sky is clear, the air is fresh and the people are warm hearted. Welcome you to Mekong Delta, Vietnam’s rice basket, the “Land of Nine Dragons”.

Arriving at Cai Be town, we sail leisurely through the Cai Be Floating Market to admire interesting local way of life. On the brown water flow, hundreds of sampans loaded with fresh produce are arranged by groups here and there, crossed by small service boats of café or soups. For photographing, we get closer to the stern used as their home, we could be startled by a sudden dog bark but the owner, a vermicelli soup seller would greet us with a generous smile. All seasonal produce from the Mekong Delta such as rice, vegetables, fruit, fish, and poultry are gathered here before being distributed to local markets.

After visiting the floating market, we land on a luxuriant garden that is tastefully designed as an accommodation complex of Mekong Lodge, a pure eco-resort with 30 elegant traditional style cottages built in beautiful harmony with surrounding landscapes.

Enjoying your breakfast at the Mekong Lodge restaurant, then boarding Le Cochinchine boat for a 2 day cruise to Can Tho via Vinh Long and Tra On.

Disembark and land on some fantastic places in the villages, then take a pleasant walking or biking on the footpaths of the countryside to visit tropical fruit orchards, watch the local daily activities and interact with famers.

Continue the cruise to Tra On. Enjoy the magnificent sunset on the river. Leisurely cruise up the Mekong River while enjoying the beautiful scenery and the aperitifs. Wrap up a wonderful day with picturesque ferry crossings over Mekong River branches. Dinner and overnight on board of Le Cochinchine.

The buzz of the floating market wakes you up early in the morning. After breakfast, the cruise continues to Can Tho. Enjoy a magnificent sunrise over the water. Leisurely cruise up the Bassac River while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way.

Arrival at Can Tho, a small boat will take you to explore the Cai Rang market one of the most bustling floating markets in Mekong Delta with hundreds of small boats barging and jostling for space as owners attempt to sell their goods. And through the palm-shaded creek to see local houses and green orchards.

10h00: Disembark at the Ninh Kieu jetty Can Tho. End of the cruise. Private transfer to Saigon international airport for your onwards flight to Siem Reap.

Upon arrival at airport, our guide will meet you and transfer you to hotel for check in. Special welcome buffet dinner with Apsara dancing show is arranged. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Early morning, view sunrise at Ta Prohm “the Royal Monastery” then transfer back to hotel for breakfast. The same morning, visit Angkor Wat, South gate of Angkor Thom with Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace, Terrace of Leper King, Ta Promh and Srah Srang. After lunch, visit Chau Say Tevoda, Takeo. Have an sunset overview of the Magical temple City of Angkor Wat from Phnom Bakheng. Transfer back to inner city to explore the night life. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Spend the entire morning in one of the remote jewels of Angkor, the Banteay Srei temple which means “Citadel of Women”, made of pink sandstone and presenting the most graceful carvings in stone we might ever see in our life. Banteay Samre is a bit off the Grand Circuit, near the southeast corner of the East Baray. There is a nice 3km road excursion through villages and paddies. Combine a visit to Banteay Srey with a stop at Banteay Samre on the way back Siem Reap for lunch. Visit Artisans D’Angkor to get insights into Angkor Arts and Crafts. Overnight in Siem Reap.
