Travel beyond 2 major tourist destinations in Laos to discover the untouched side of the country with the modern world. Start in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos still remains its colonial yesteryears with numerous historical landmarks. On this trip, you not only explore some popular temples but also visit an orchid farm and enjoy lunch on a boat along a river. Your journey will finish in Luang Prabang, the small town filled with dozen temples, orange-robed monks, cascading waterfall, bustling night market. All are waiting to be explored.
Itinerary Day by Day


On arrival in Vientiane, welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel for check in.  Located on the bank of the Mekong River, this serene capital offers tourists full of things to see, from crumbling French mansions to tree-lined boulevards, from ancient stupas to national monuments.

In the afternoon, start your half day city tour by visiting the major temples of Vientiane including Wat Si Saket, the oldest temple in Vientiane featuring a cloister wall with more than 2000 ceramic and silver Buddha images, the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Continue to the golden Pha That Luang, the most important national monument in Laos. Stop at Patuxai known as Victory Gate of Gate of Triumph, a war monument dedicated to people fought in the struggle for independence from the French in the center then take some pictures before finish the day by observing the spectacular sunset over the Mekong River.

In the morning, we transfer by car to the orchid farm, where you can find more than 2 000 plants, including 300 different orchid species coming from different regions of the country. The orchids are arranged by species in a beautiful green garden in Vientiane. After that, we will transfer to Tha Ngon village (20Km from the center), which is very famous for the leisurely lunch cruise along the lazy Nam Ngum River. This is really the escape from daily busy life, which you never want to miss when visiting Laos. Return to Vientiane and take a short late afternoon flight to Luang Prabang. (QV103 VTE LPQ 17:00 17:45)
Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, transfer to your hotel for check in then free at leisure.

Get up at the crack of dawn to participate in one of the most sacred Lao tradition, the Alms Giving Ceremony. See silent lines of Buddhist monks in orange robes walking down the streets to collect alms from faithful residents.

Today, you will first visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture.  Then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims.  Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where people make the local rice wine.

Back to the city, visit Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts before climbing up the top of Phousi Hill for a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. The tour ends after a stroll around the famous night market, where you can find a lovely collection of handmade textiles made by local and hilltribe people surrounding. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

After breakfast, drive to Elephant Village, an elephant sanctuary and tourist destination. On arrival at the camp, stroll around to make friends with some very big elephants before enjoying a 30 minute elephant ride to the nearby jungle. We then transfer to Kuang Si Waterfalls where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. En route, we take a short visit to the tomb of the 19th century French explorer Henri Mouhot; the first European to rediscover Angkor Wat and to visit the Royal Kingdom of Luang Prabang. On the way back, visit the nearby Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park, one of the must-see spots newly opened on January 2014. We will also call on some local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay village of Hmong people, Ban Ou – a Laoloum village and Ban Thapene village of Khmu ethnic. Arrive in Luang Prabang, we transfer to Wat Siphouthabath to admire the sunset.

Morning, drive by road forward to the Boloven Plateau where you can enjoy cool temperature due to its high location above the Mekong Valley. You’ll visit Tad Fan one of the most famous and beautiful waterfalls here. Tad Fan waterfall is spectacular with twin waterfalls and plummeting into a deep gorge surrounded by flourishing vegetation. Lunch is served here.
Afternoon, continue to enjoy a refreshing break and from the heat and observe the cultivation of rich coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops before coming back to Pakse when tour finishes
